INTRODUCTION
Society for Human
Advancement and Disadvantaged Empowerment SHADE is a Non-government and not for
profit organization. It is registered with the Social Welfare department of
government of Balochistan under social welfare act of
1961. The organization is run by a Board of Directors having more than 80%
women participation. The Board of Directors is chaired by a woman. The Board of
Directors is a policy making body of the organization.
The organization has
worked in collaboration with number of national and international
organizations, United Nations agencies on different projects at its focused
areas. The organization is member of World Association of NGOs (WANGO), Human
Resource Development Network (HRDN) Con sortium of
Civil Society Organizations (CCSO and CERAC.
The Society for Human
Advancement and Disadvantaged Empowerment (SHADE) has its well established
office at Usta Muhammad City in district Jaffarabad. The organization has its professional core
staff, committed team of volunteers and project staff. The project staff is
appointed for the length of project. Women empowerment is mandate of the
organization and keeping this in view the organization has close liaison with
women at both rural and urban areas, we have good working relationships with
the government line department at our focused areas.

Advancement and Disadvantaged Empowerment (SHADE) we envision a society where
rights are respected and duties are performed well, where equality and social
harmony prevails.
MISSION
The mission of Society
for Human Advancement and Disadvantaged Empowerment SHADE is to work for the
advancement of women and girls as mentioned in the UN and international
conventions, strive for creating equal opportunities and spaces for them
through awareness raising activities, advocacy campaigns and by assisting them
so that they could get empowered, exert themselves and lead better lives.

ORGANIZATIONAL
STRUCTURE
Board of Directors is
a policy making body of the organization that appoints The Executive Director
of the organization who is the head of management of the organization. The
Executive Director is supported by team of Directors.
ACTIVITIES
PERFORMED
1. Income Generation of Rural Women
through skill training
The Society for Human Advancement and
Disadvantaged Empowerment (SHADE) in collaboration with Small Grant and
Ambassador’s Fund Program (SGAFP-USAID) launched a project to raise the income
of women at rural areas of district Jaffarabad in Balochistan to raise their status at the households and in
the male dominant society. Through the project activities skill training of
tailoring and embroidery were given to 100 female at rural areas of Union
Councils Sorah and Cattle farm areas of district Jaffarabad of Balochistan
province in Pakistan. The women beneficiaries were given singer company sewing
machines and embroidery kits to practice thses skills
at home to earn and support their families, a supporting amount of 8000 rupees
was given to women beneficiaries to purchase raw material for practicing these
skills at home. A display center was established at the SHADE office to sell
the products prepared by women beneficiaries. They were linked with the market
as well to sell their products to earn and support their families. The purpose
of the project activities was to teach women of the areas alternate ways to
raise their income.
2. Sensitization Sessions on pre and
postnatal care to reduce MMR (MDG-5)
The organization with its strong and
committed team of volunteers and a female volunteer doctor initiated this
activity on its own at Union Councils-1,4 Usta Muhammad Ali abad and Khanpur. Health sessions were conducted at different
villages to sensitize women about pre and postnatal care and use of nutrition
during and after pregnancy. A female doctor from civil hospital Usta Muhammad city was hired voluntarily to deliver health
sessions and prepare female volunteers of SHADE organization to conduct such
sessions. During six month period 200 health sessions were conducted and 5000
women beneficiaries were sensitized about pre and postnatal care and use of
proper nutrition and necessary medicines during and after pregnancy to reduce
MMR in the area and to improve maternal health.
3. Capacity Building of CBOs
The Society for Human Advancement and
Disadvantaged Empowerment (SHADE) conducted training of 08 Community Based
Organizations at its office on Organization Management and Kinds of Domestic
violence and how to tackle a victim of violence. It was a self
initiated activity, however, the organization charged nominal training
fee from the participating organizations. It helped the CBOs build their
capacity and we have demand to conduct more training. The Society for Human
Advancement and Disadvantaged Empowerment SHADE has core staff members who have
got expertise on different subjects to train people and organizations.
MEMBERSHIPS

The
Society for Human Advancement and Disadvantaged Empowerment became lead
organization of Consortium of Civil Society Organizations in 2015 for a term of
two years. The CCSO is an umbrella network of 14 organizations.

Development Network Pakistan (GDNP)
PARTICIPATION IN
INTERNATIONAL EVENTS
The Society for Human
Advancement and Disadvantaged Empowerment (SHADE) participated in the meeting
of Commission on the Status of Women CSW 58 at UN headquarters in New York The United States of America.
EVENTS CELEBRATION
The Society for Human
Advancement and Disadvantaged Empowerment (SHADE) celebrated following events
with the support of its strong, committed team of volunteers at different areas
of district Jaffarabad of Balochistan
province in Pakistan

March
08, 2015 International Women Day, a Seminar was held at Government Girls High
School Usta Muhammad to show solidarity with women of
the world. Women from different walks of life participated, guest speakers were
invited.
·
World
Environment Day was celebrated on June 05, 2015 by organizing a rally at Gangakha city to sensitize people about the environmental
hazards.
·

days of Activism against gender violence, on November 25,2015
a dialogue was organized at Queen Beatrix School Usta
Muhammad to sensitize people of the area against gender based violence. People
belonging to different fields of life were invited, a questionnaire was prepared
and a facilitator asked these questions to the participants to generate
discussion on current issues related to gender based violence in the area.

On
December 10,2015 Human Rights Day was celebrated at
village Bhagia Khan at Union Council Sameji. A session was conducted to sensitize people of the
area about human rights. The purpose of this session was to sensitize people
against violations of human rights particularly human rights of women. A
signature campaign was held at the SHADE office “Respect Human Rights-Respect
Women Rights”.
